Peppermint Essential Oil: DIY Recipes

Vaporiser

Well, the easiest way to improvise is to fill a bowl with hot water, add a few drops of peppermint essential oil, lean your head over the bowl, cover your head and bowl with a towel and breathe the vapour.

This is a great way to ease a congested nose and chest, free up breathing and clear the head.

Try these combos in a diffuser, if you have one:

Clear Air

  • 4 drops eucalyptus essential oil

  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil

  • 2 drops lemon essential oil

Mind Refresh

  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil

  • 3 drops bergamot essential oil

  • 2 drops rosemary essential oil

Food

  • Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in a glass water for a refreshing flavour

  • Add a drop to your favourite smoothie recipe for a refreshing twist

  • Add a drop or two into your homemade bliss balls

Try these decadent bliss balls!

Ingredients
1 cup finely shredded coconut, divided
1 cup almond butter
1 cup dried cranberries
½ cup raw honey
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chia seeds
3 drops peppermint essential oil

Instructions

Place all ingredients into the mixer, reserving just a half cup of the shredded coconut in a bowl to the side.

Add essential oil.

Mix until well combined.

Roll into balls and coat in the other half cup of shredded coconut.

Store in the refrigerator.

Quick Fixes - some more quick picks on peppermint essential oil DIY recipes and ideas

Place one drop in the palm of your hand with one drop sweet orange and one drop frankincense essential oils. Inhale for a midday pick-me-up.

A couple of drops of peppermint essential oil on a tissue for a quick inhale during the day if you are a bit blocked up with a cold.

Basic bath bomb

These are pretty easy to make and are a wonderful gift. You can use a smaller mould and make a foot bath bomb too.

Ingredients

450g baking soda
226g citric acid
6g essential oil
Witch hazel - in a mister bottle
Mould of your choice

Method

Blend the baking soda and citric acid very well.
Add fragrance and blend again.
Spritz with witch hazel and blend until it is the consistency of wet sand. It should clump in your hand when you squeeze it.
Pack very tightly into the 2 halves of the mould. Press together. Wipe away any excess mixture.
Press the mould gently and the balls will pop out.
Leave to dry for 48 hours.

Most of these ingredients should be readily available from your local DIY craft supplier.

Relieve Joint Pain

Peppermint essential oil and lavender oil work well together as a cooling, soothing anti-inflammatory for painful joints. Add a few of drops of each to a carrier oil and massage the affected joint.
